PTSA Needs Volunteers Like You!

Simpson PTSA is already preparing for the 2021-2022 school year and a hopeful return to some of our traditional activities! Our newly elected executive board is now seeking returning volunteers for various committee positions. Whether your schedule can accommodate a few hours/week or you can only spare time on a sporadic basis, we have positions that can fit with any schedule! Please consider signing up to to serve our Simpson community — we’re excited for the coming year!

Red Ribbon Week—Help Dr. Daniel and a committee of students decorate and plan activities to raise awareness (typically a week in October).

Hospitality Committee—super-fun committee! One or two volunteers to plan activities, treats, and little rewards/gifts for Simpson teachers and staff (year-long role, with about one small activity/treat per month and a larger activity/gift before winter break and a week of fun stuff during teacher appreciation week in April).

Kindness Initiative—Two volunteers to plan activities and rewards to encourage acts of Kindness among students and our Simpson Community (this is a year-long role, planning kindness initiatives on a monthly or quarterly basis). This was a new initiative in 2020-21 and was a great success!

Vision & Hearing screening coordinator—Provided that health restrictions allow screening to occur this year, this volunteer will recruit and coordinate training for team of parent volunteers to assist in conducting annual in-school screening of students for vision & hearing.

Spirit Wear—help our co-VP Erika Emerick with design, ordering, and sales of Simpson Spirit Wear and 8th Grade Shirt (designs for 21-22 school year are currently being developed for sales during membership drives).

Reflections Chair—Help coordinate, advertise, and conduct the annual Reflections Contest (planning can start in May to give students the opportunity to work on their submissions over the summer months. Entries typically due in early fall).

School Store—recruit a few volunteers to help run the school store one or two mornings/week from about 8:30am-9:10 am. School Store sells convenience items such as pencils, pens, notebooks, folders, etc. as well as Simpson spirit items and spirit wear.

7th Grade Activity Nights—need one chairperson per grade to plan and coordinate a grade-level activity night for students (typically these events take place at Simpson in the fall, but schedule and format subject to change depending on county health regulations).

8th grade dance/celebration—we REALLY hope to bring back the 8th grade dance next year! We need a chairperson and team of volunteers to plan and coordinate this event, which typically takes place the Tuesday night before the last day of school.
